Harold: Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Brother, Uncle & Friend.
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Victor Good, aged 96 in the early hours of Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at the Bevan House in Abbotsford BC., where he had been enjoying his days at the retirement home.
Harold was born on February 9th, 1926 in Holden Alberta, and was raised in Goodridge, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Gertrude Good, brothers Harry & William, sisters Florence & Irene, and his daughter Cathy Hewitt.
Harold married the love of his life Eileen Leversage, in 1951. They raised their children in Richmond BC and moved to South Surrey in 1971 where they enjoyed life with family and friends for many years. In 2017 they moved to Abbotsford to live with their daughter Marilyn who cared for him until he moved into the Bevan House in July 2021.
Harold is survived and missed by his loving wife Eileen of 71 years, their children Marilyn Van Batavia, Gary (Glenda), Ron (Sue), Carol (Dan) Brotherston, son-in-law Terry Hewitt, and youngest brother Ron (Adrienne ). He leaves behind 15 much loved grandchildren and their spouses, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and close friends.
Harold was a quiet entrepreneur who started his first company Fraser Whitewood with his friend Willy McFadden in the 50’s. He then formed Crestwood Kitchens with Willy & his brother Ron Good which they sold in the mid 70’s. In the 80’s Harold built custom homes in the South Surrey area and ended his working career after starting Kitchens Alive! with his son Gary.
Creating park-like gardens at his homes and spending time with his family & friends were his greatest joy. Harold’s family meant everything to him and he was always offering a helping hand or words of advice.
He truly was a gentle, kindhearted man who loved God.

Harold and Eileen were a very special couple to both of us. We both have many fond memories of time spent with your family from our youth until days up in Kamloops at Hewitt’s. We have enjoyed reminiscing these last days since Harold’s passing. We SO appreciated his kindness, the open home always, lessons learned from him (even gardening help), his humour, his steadiness, his meekness, his wisdom, and his faithfulness. Our love, and sympathy, to the family on your loss.

I have the fondest memories of Grandpa Harold from growing up. There was always a twinkle in his eye, even when we would try to sneak off in his golf cart. Sending all my love, and thinking of the whole family always. Love Cass

Great-Grandpa was kind and fun. He tolerated our noise and wrestling and even bopped us with his cane to egg it on a bit. Even though most of my interactions with him were when I was young, I will always remember the love he had for his family.

Grandpa was a gem and a true patriarch. I’ve too many fond memories to list here, but I’m without regret in that I’ve expressed my heartfelt gratitude, love, and appreciation to him before he lost his mind and passed. As a life well-lived, Grandpa Good set a high standard, unsurprisingly, as that’s the only standard that he seemed to appreciate anyways. (Lol.) I will remember him fondly and continue to share stories of him with my child. He led an exemplary life.

Thinking of you as you say goodbye to your beloved Harold. So many happy memories of White Rock days, both in friendship and fellowship. I always remember the twinkle in his eye; when he and dad shared a laugh, it was contagious! May you be comforted by happy memories, and that his life touched so many. Much love from Sydney… Donna xo
