Steve was an important mentor and friend to me during our many years working together at Channel 5 in Chicago. We each moved back and forth between producing sports and news during that time, and he did superb work in both areas. I will remember him for many things, but especially his warm smile, commitment to quality journalism, and for inviting me to speak to his students at Columbia College, which helped me decide to teach many years later at Montclair State University. My thoughts are with Sheila, Lisa, Neil, and family.

There are few friends that one has in a lifetime…a friend who you can always count on. You knew that Steve really cared for you. He always cared for others more than himself.

This summer brought back memories of attending many soccer games with Steve – and Sheila, of course. They were the only unrelated fans to attend so many of our children’s soccer games. If you were a friend of Steve’s – you were connected and involved with each other in a meaningful way. We began as neighbors but that deepened into friendship. He cared about not just the people around him but also the world around us all. Truly, gone but not forgotten. May his light shine on in all he touched.

Steve was a respected and valued friend who made a lasting impact on my life. He provided support, encouragement, and mentorship during a period when his words and guidance were particularly meaningful to me, something I will always remember and appreciate. Over the years, his willingness to share his time, knowledge, and experience reflected the kind of person he was — genuine, kind, and deeply invested in the people around him. I am grateful for the friendship we shared and for the many conversations. Steve – You will be missed. Rest in peace.

When I met Steve, I was a single parent with two young children living on the west side of Chicago, barely able to support myself let alone my children. I enrolled my son in the Big Brothers program, hoping that he would be assigned a good person to emulate and, lo and behold, Steve and Sheila Corman came into our lives. Steve worked hard to provide Andrew with a strong role model and spent hours on weekends with him thrilling Andrew with glimpses into his own life as a television producer. But more importantly, our two families became close in later years and we visited together in Chicago regularly. And it was so thrilling for me, a hopeful writer myself, when Steve published his two novels. In the end, Steve was a wonderful role model to so many of us in so many ways. We’ll never forget you.

Steve was a dear friend, good person and great family man. I would always look forward to Steve and Shelia visiting Chicago and coming downtown for visits. Steve was a passionate man and loved Chicago and the White Sox, even when they had some slumping seasons-He was very loyal and always looked at the brighter side. The thing that I remember and admire most about Steve was his pride and happiness towards his wife, children and family. I always looked up to the strength Steve and Shelia had for each other and the love for the family. He is a great role model, friend and will be dearly missed. Thoughts and prayers to the entire Corman Family.

Steve was a dear friend – one of those rare people who blesses your life. Steve and I met at Columbia College and that was the beginning of a special friendship lasting decades. Steve was extremely talented with a wonderful wit. He was genuine and caring. His wife and family were very special and dear to him. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to them. His friendship and love were a gift to us – something my husband and I will treasure always. Thank you, Steve, you are dearly missed.
