Obituary for Sandra “Sandy” Sinclair
Sandra “Sandy” Sinclair, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on April 30, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous journey with ALS. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and joyful living that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Sandy was born on March 11, 1955, during a blizzard in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, to Boyd McCluskey and Bertha McCluskey. Raised in a lively household alongside seven siblings, she grew up surrounded by laughter, hard work, and deep family bonds. From her father, a dedicated farmer, and her mother, whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met, Sandy learned the values that would shape her life—kindness, resilience, and an open heart.
She carried that spirit of adventure far beyond her Canadian roots. Sandy embraced the world with curiosity and gratitude, traveling widely and creating unforgettable memories—diving in the Red Sea, skiing in the Alps, cycling through France, and exploring landscapes from Thailand to Egypt to the Holy Land. Wherever she went, she brought joy, warmth, and a genuine appreciation for life.
Sandy met the love of her life, Colin, at the parachuting club at the University of New Brunswick. They were married on August 16, 1980, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with devotion, laughter, and shared adventure. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love and faith.
Her commitment to serving others was a defining part of who she was. As a dental hygienist, she participated in mission trips to Honduras, offering care and compassion to those in need. Closer to home, her involvement with the Cypress Woodlands Junior Forum reflected her quiet, humble faith in action—supporting seniors, veterans, children, and young women in meaningful and lasting ways. Sandy never sought recognition; she simply gave, wholeheartedly and consistently.
Sandy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Ashley and Andrew, and welcomed their spouses, Joe and Courtney, with open arms and deep love. The arrival of her grandson, Callum, brought her immeasurable happiness and pride.
In March 2025, Sandy was diagnosed with ALS. Though the diagnosis was difficult, she faced it with remarkable courage, grace, and faith. Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, she remained a source of strength and inspiration, reminding all who were with her of what truly matters—love, connection, and faith.
Sandy is reunited in peace with her parents, Boyd and Bertha, her in-laws Ken and Jean, and the many loved ones who preceded her.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Colin; her daughter, Ashley, and son-in-law, Joe; her son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law, Courtney; her cherished grandson, Callum; her siblings; and a wide circle of family and dear friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, Sandy requested that donations be made to The ALS Association or Team Gleason.
Sandy’s life was a testament to living simply, loving deeply, and giving generously. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.
Her family invites all who knew her to honor her memory by sharing her stories, embracing life fully, and continuing the quiet acts of kindness she embodied every day.
