Robin Resin Obituary
Robin Resin passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Christmas morning, December 25, 2023, with hospice care at UConn Hospital, Farmington, near her home in Hartford, Connecticut. Born in 1934, Robin was 89, and pulmonary issues were exacerbated in recent years.
Robin was a skilled and compassionate social worker, serving others at Catholic Charities, as well as hospice and disability counseling and advocacy organizations. She received her Master of Social Work degree from Smith College in 1983. Her undergraduate work also began at Smith College, in the class of 1956. After a break for marriage and motherhood, Robin completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech & Drama: Rhetoric & Public Address, at the University of Missouri in 1972.
She applied her talents as a writer and songwriter in the quest for global peace and justice. Friends and family enjoyed Robin’s gourmet cooking, her beautiful, knitted creations, and her photography. She is survived by her three daughters and seven grandchildren.
Dedicated to progress, Robin donated her body to science. A virtual memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
Please consider a donation to the Smith College School for Social Work, in lieu of flowers.

First, please accept my regrets for having missed the live memorial. Friends and family, my heart is with all of you in this time of grief and mourning.
I remember Robin as a friend and mentor from an early age as Megan’s boyfriend at Oak Grove Coburn, our formative years. We spent a few summers at Robin’s camp, Birch Point on Weber Pond in Maine, as I lived nearby. Some of my fondest memories are from those summers. Somehow, through the years we maintained a friendship since I now live in Connecticut and she lived at times only a few towns away. I would call her from time to time to check in and was always received with warmth and memories.
I will always remember you Robin for your kindness and generosity. May God embrace you in love and in peace.

Robin was a good friend, colleague, and co-worker for years, and I’m sad that I’ve missed the possibility of continuing that relationship over miles and time. I loved her sense of humor and perspective, her thoroughgoing honesty and genuineness, and her ability to weather whatever storms life tossed her way. Rest in peace, dear Robin.

Robin was a dear friend and inspiration to me for over 42 years. We met our first day of social work school at Smith, discovered we were both songwriters and workers for social justice, and we bonded and became fast friends, despite our 21 year age difference. We shared an apartment together during school and worked together in the peace movement over decades.
Robin had spunk and was always up for new adventures. She had a lightness of spirit and a sense of fun that I admired and enjoyed. Whatever she did, she did well and with determination, whether it was getting in shape with her lap pool inthe back yard after an injury or creating a curriculum for teens and parents at Catholic Charities.
We sang together every chance we got, and her friendship and deep support has held me through the decades. I sure miss her!

It was a wonderful blessing to be Robin’s chaplain and friend at Armsmear. She had so much wisdom, kindness and spiritual insight. I enjoyed being a part of her journey and hearing the stories of her life. The gift of being with her in the moments of joys as well as, sorrow. I know I miss you Robin. I know that you’re in a peaceful place with God.
