Merry Lynn Rosier Sieberson McCreery Obituary
Merry Lynn Rosier Sieberson McCreery was born July 5, 1950, as the fourth child of Frank and Anne Rosier of Evergreen Park, Illinois. She grew up above the store her father ran and was active at Evergreen Park CRC. She attended Chicago Christian High School and went on to study at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where she met her first husband, Steve Sieberson. With Steve she had her three children Annie, Eric, and Laura and spent a number of years as their full-time caregiver. After the kids were in school, Merry went back to school herself attending Seattle University for her undergraduate, then receiving her master’s degree in history and teaching certification from the University of Washington.
She spent most of her career as a history teacher at Bellevue Christian School in Clyde Hill, WA where she was beloved by many students and colleagues. In 2001 Merry married Dennis McCreery and the couple lived in Bellevue until her passing. Merry loved traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had an infectious smile, a memorable laugh, and a wonderful sense of humor. The teacher in her was always engaged with people, and she loved nothing more than the two decades she spent hosting weekly dinners for her blended family where she held court over wide-ranging conversations about life and the world.
The last 4 years were a struggle for her as she lost function due to MSA-C, but she still delighted in family, friends, and audiobooks. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother John Rosier and survived by sisters Ida and Barb; and by her husband Dennis McCreery and children Annie (Kevin), Eric (Lisa), and Laura (Joe); step-children Robyn (Kevin), Aaron (Rebecca), and Elisa (Nate) and grandchildren Audrey, Maya, Charlotte, Beatrix, Felix, and Sunny; and step-grandchildren Nolan, Kolbie, Max, Noah, Jacob, Adam, Deirdre, and Sagan.
Memorial donations can be made in her honor to Mary’s Place www.marysplaceseatte.org
