Marlene Rose Grieve Obituary
Marlene Rose Grieve was born on October 19, 1975 in Mission, BC and lived most of her life in Abbotsford, BC. She attended Prince Charles Elementary and graduated from Yale Secondary School. Shortly after graduating, Marlene enrolled in a business/office management course at a local college. Her first job offer after completing this course was from Vantage Foods, a new company that opened in Chilliwack. She began as a receptionist, which soon turned into an office manager position, which finally became Human Resources manager. Her last few years with the company were with the Corporate office in Calgary and she spent most of her time travelling to other Vantage Foods facilities in Winnipeg, Toronto and Pennsylvania, USA to help them launch new Human Resource programs. After 25 years of working for Vantage Foods – the company sold. Marlene began working for a company called UKG, where she helped their customers set up their Human Resource programs.
Shortly after Marlene’s cancer diagnosis, she reluctantly left her employment and moved to Courtenay to live with and be cared for by Ken & Louise, her beloved parents.
Marlene’s faith gave her direction and purpose to her life and she passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024.
She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Ken & Louise Grieve of Courtenay BC, her 2 brothers Robert (Lisa) Grieve of Courtenay, BC and Ryan (Megan) Grieve of Armstrong, BC, her niece Kiara and 2 nephews Jaris & Chase of Courtenay, BC as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

My condolences to the Grieve family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. ❤️
I worked with Marlene for many years, at Vantage Foods in Chilliwack B.C. she was a wonderful lady very kind and caring. Always there to help a hand, or listen to whatever it was you wanted to talk about. She was very dedicated to her job, co-workers and the company.
She loved her family very much, always had a big smile and alot of joy when speaking of them. Showing pictures of her mom, dad brothers, sisters and her neices and nephews just pure joy and that infectious smile.
Gone way too soon, forever remembered and greatly missed.
R.I.P Marlene ❤️

I will greatly miss Marlene. Marlene was caring, kind, and always had a friendly smile for all around her. She always kept our group organized and on top of things. There is nobody who was more committed to Vantage – a true servant leader putting others ahead of herself. We went through some trying times, especially through the fire and building the new plant. Mar was always leading the way, making things happen and making sure the business was successful. Rest in Peace, Marlene. God bless you.

Dear Ken, Louise & family… Viewing Marlene’s photos brought back sooo many wonderful memories of when I first met your dear family…at Abbotsford, 1969. “Much water has gone under the bridge” since those years. My heart was saddened when I read of Marlene’s passing. So young!! I love a newly-opened ROSE BUD. The thot that appealed to me was: Our precious Heavenly Father has chosen to pick ‘a-newly-opened-rose-bud’, when He chose Marlene, to add beauty to ‘His bouquet’ in eternity. I was thankful for what I heard re God’s ‘patience’ being exercised in Marlene’s life. She’s “Hung her shield ‘of faith’ in victory” and we are thankful!! May your heart’s be comforted as you think on God’s faithfulness in Marlen’s life, dear family. An old-time friend from Abbotsford days, now in Penticton, BC Betty H.
@
We have good memories of Marlene and her brothers, parents,
and grandparents. She was a faithful caring friend and will be
missed. God has taken her home.
@
Thinking of you Ken and Louise with deepest sympathy and love and care. As you journeyed with Marlene on a difficult part of the road, she would be so thankful for your care. And we are all thankful that she had a friend who could go through the last experience and be with her forever!
@
So many good memories growing up with the Grieve family! Between her brothers and I, we sure teased her! She was patient with us…most of the time! 😉
Praying for your family during this time, for God’s comfort to cover each of you and for you to feel His peace surrounding you.
God is near to the brokenhearted, so we pray you draw nearer to Him as He draws nearer to you.

Dear Family of Marlene, it’s hard to imagine the grief of losing a child at any stage of their life, but i do understand the grief of losing a sibling, so today I know you all will have such special comfort that only comes from God.
Appreciate we can join you this way.

Marlene was there for me when I had struggles at work. She never betrayed my trust no matter what information I shared with her.
I always thought she was smart, hard working and I considered her a friend. She was happy for me when I met my wife after being there for me during a bad breakup years before. She also was really happy for me when I found a new career and moved on.
She will be missed.

I work with Marlene for many years in Chilliwack, BC in the early years of our Meat plant at Vantage Foods. She was our HR manager and a passionate and dedicated team member. She was eager to share her knowledge with others and she helped guided both the Canadian and our US facilities for several years in the areas of program for managing/tracking Employees, time, etc. Her footprints were strong and bold–very resourceful person and pleasant person to work with.
Those of us that knew her will miss her while our prayers and thoughts to the family.

To Marlene’s family, friends and colleagues, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I had the distinct pleasure of working with Marlene on just one project, but during that time, she made an impression on me. Marlene’s dedication, professionalism and commitment to our project team was exceptional. If Marlene said she was going to do something, she delivered. Marlene graciously shared her knowledge and expertise. Through her work, Marlene touched the lives of many people, making them better at what they do, what a great professional legacy! I feel privileged to have been one of the fortunate ones to have been the recipient of Marlene’s grace and generosity.

My condolences to the Grieve family.
I first met Marlene during a job interview for Vantage Foods to which i worked with her for just over 8 years; Two months after Marlene hired me My twin sister came in for a job interview with Marlene as well. My sister continued to work with Marlene for over 13 years up until Marlene moved on from the Chilliwack Vantage Foods facility .
I remember Marlene as a kind, caring, approachable, hard working individual who put the needs of others always before her own .
Gone too soon – but forever be remembered.
Rest in peace Marlene.

I am so happy that I was able to spend some time with Marlene a few months ago. Being that we were both remote workers, we didn’t have the opportunity to be face to face very often. We talked about UKG and her eyes sparkled with excitement as she shared her UKG journey with me, highlighting the meaningful connections she had made and the fulfillment she found in her work.
Marlene and I worked on some projects together, one thing for sure about Marlene, if she told you she was going to do something you could always count on her to get it done. She cared about our customers and her teammates with all her heart.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter with me and us at UKG. It was always so apparent how much her family meant to her. Marlene told me stories about her Grandmas, her Mom and Dad, her brothers, sister in laws and niece and nephews. She love you all so very much. She will always be in my heart and will be missed dearly.
Love and hugs to all of you.
Susan

My heart is filled with sorrow for the entire Grieve family and friends. After working with Mar for 11 years at Vantage Foods, we would run into her all the time at Costco. We had not seen her in awhile and then I heard about her diagnosis. I was heartbroken. I was blessed to have been present to help her celebrate her birthday in October. Every time I see a golf cart, I will think of her (Vantage golf tournaments)
Rest in Peace Mar

@
Ken, Louise and family,
I remember Marlene as a little girl when we’d get back home to visit our family in Coquitlam and see you all at Spc Mtgs or Convention. Now the memories are flashing back again as I await listening through the magic of technology to Marlene’s and Elaine’s funerals back-to-back. There’s tears for you and for us but, thankfully, there’s amazing comfort too. Some day the sweet memories will be greater than the pain of loss. We’ll hope and pray for you that’ll be sooner than later. Keep a song in your hearts and don’t let the music stop. We’ve all loved that music and harmony through these many years. Love from us in Texas. Ron & Pat Cormick

We have many great memories of being at the Grieve house, sharing food, laughs and stories. I can just hear Marlene now adding in any missing details to make sure we got the full picture. I was very saddened to learn of Marlene’s passing and wish to send condolences to the entire Grieve’s family.
Marlene and I first met when she worked for Vantage Foods and was a customer of UKG. We were looking for a customer to help with a presentation during our 2019 Connections conference and Marlene agreed to be one of the guest panelists on the topic of “Navigating the Gray Areas of Canadian Taxable Benefits: A Customer Panel” during that conference. I remember her telling me how nervous she was to speak in front of so many people and we reassured her that she would be great, and she was. 2 years later, when Marlene accepted the job with UKG, she reached out to let me know that we would now be co-workers and how excited she was to be joining our organization. Marlene was smart, collaborative and a great colleague who will be deeply missed by her team members here at UKG. Wishing the family the courage to face the days ahead and cherish those loving memories of Marlene.

We are sending our love and prayers to the Grieve Family. So many memories with Marlene over the years. I will always remember her incredible skill of remembering stories and sharing memories. She will be missed greatly!

I had the privilege of working with Marlene and meeting her when she was a customer of a while ago. She was quite energetic, driven, organized and decisive. She did a lot and supported a lot. She ensured all was prepared for me and her colleagues for our meetings. She looked after us so well. She was a very intelligent and collaborative person. Always rose to the occasion. When she joined our company, it was a very pleasant surprise to see her name again and we connected. My sincere condolences. Marlene is sorely missed and was taken from us much too soon. May she rest in peace. She will be in my thoughts and I appreciate having met her on a few occasions and having worked with her.
@
My condolences to the family. Sorry for your loss.

I first met Marlene when she was working at Vantage Foods during one of my first implementations of UltiPRO. We quickly bonded over the cold winter weather in Winnipeg as the main office was located there. A few years later, I was advised Marlene had applied for a consultant role at UKG and asked for a reference. Of course I gave her a glowing reference citing examples of her professional demeanour, quick learning,, and insightful, empathetic management of the project team during our project implementation. Marlene was extremely bright, and very kind to all. She will be sadly missed.

My heart is sending you all love and compassion for this very sad loss..

We will fondly remember Marlene as a cheerful person and a wonderful photographer. She will be missed my many.
