David Joseph Garcia Obituary
David Joseph Garcia was born May 30, 1952 in St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City. The second child of Richard Garcia and Mildred Rodriguez – he was the younger brother to Richard and older brother to Janet and Sally. He spent the majority of his childhood moving between three of the five boroughs – Manhattan, Queens and The Bronx. In 1977 he married Theresa Lyons and they had four children together – Jodie, Michael, William, and Joseph. He loved his family and friends deeply. He enjoyed a good laugh and had a great sense of humor. David would often tease others but could also laugh at himself. He was a keen observer of current events and politics. His no-nonsense and straight to the point communication was appreciated by his family and they would often come to him for his honest opinions. He was a master storyteller. He liked a good game of chess and in his younger years he enjoyed playing handball. He loved film – he liked to say that he saw the first Star Wars in theaters at least six times. He enjoyed going fishing. He was a huge New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He held a variety of jobs while living in New York – he was a cab driver, security agent, handyman, and housing manager. And also worked in Puerto Rico for a short time as a truck driver. In 2008 he relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where he lived with his partner, Nancy Immediato – they loved raising their dogs, Butterscotch, Maverick and Randy together.
David was a larger than life person and those who met him, remembered him. David passed away on December 13, 2023 and leaves behind his wife, Theresa, his daughter Jodie, his son Michael, his son William and daughter-in-law Dana, his son Joseph and daughter-in-law Kathy, his granddaughters Allyson, Sarah and Rebekah, his sister Janet and his partner, Nancy and many other family members and friends whom he loved dearly.
David was not a religious man – but he was a lover of Christ. It is a comfort to his family, although heartbroken by his passing, to know that they will one day see him again, in the presence of the Almighty Creator. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38 – 8:39

David was a very special part of my childhood, he was always protective, loving, insulting sometimes absolutely obnoxious but we loved each other, were a family that stayed close back then. I’ll miss your mischievous smile.
Love you always

Condolences. It was delightful to have lunch with him and Millie in Phoenix several years ago. I wish I could have enjoyed several more such lovely times before their passing. Our time here is limited. We must make the most of it. Thank you for this touching video tribute. RIP.
