We’re so sorry for your loss. We always appreciated Arnie’s wonderful sense of humour and the warmth he brought to everyone around him. It was also so special to see how happy he and Marion were together and the love they shared.

We’re thinking of your whole family so much as you navigate this difficult time and learn to go through life without your dad, husband, and grandfather. We hope the many wonderful memories you have of Arnie, especially his humour and the happiness he shared with Marion and all of you, bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Sending you all our love and deepest condolences. ❤️

Jerry and I have many happy memories of time spent with Arnie and Arlene, and later with Arnie and Marion. He was our dear neighbor in Auburn for over twenty years. We were honored to be invited to his wedding to Marion and his 90th birthday party. He was a very kind and special person who will be greatly missed.
Sending our sincerest sympathy to Marion, Gary, Pan and all the family.
    With love,
    Sylvia and Jerry Larson

Please accept my sincere condolences to Arnie’s family. Wayne and I had the special privilege and pleasure of attending Arnie and Marion’s wedding in August 2008. One outstanding memory from that day was an address to the wedding guests by Wilf Stroud. Wilf had known Marion for many years. He shared with us that Marion had been a very “giving person” throughout her life. She was first of all a nurse, then a Christian minister/missionary for many years in both Canada and overseas. Her more recent mode of giving was that of caring for her aged mother, Grace Galbraith. Upon ending Wilf’s message, Arnie stood and responded with the following words, “I did good didn’t I?” We have many lovely memories of our beloved friends. With Love and Care, Beth Cusitar

Visiting Arnold and Arlene and the cousins was always fun and exciting. My favorite memory is after a wonderful Thanksgiving meal, there were 17 children and adults around the table playing the rambunctious game of SPOONS. It has been a pleasure to stay connected wiith Bruce, Rod, and Gary and their families over the years.

When my parents (Vern and Anna Cox) decided to quit their summer travels and “settle down” they chose to move to Auburn to “live close to relations.” That proved to be a wonderful decision because for their final 17 years they were included in all Lyon family events from weekly baseball games to holiday gatherings. The generosity and kindness they were shown kept them busy and socially involved. Until I could move back to northern California I lived 400 miles away and could visit only a few times a year. It was a great comfort knowing someone was looking out for them and was there to help when needed.

Arnold was a proud patriarch and touched many lives over the years.

Jack and I have such wonderful memories of Arnie and Arlene. They were so good to us. Always welcoming all the teens to their home and cabin. Many special snow ski trips and in the summer waterskiing. I would often just spend time with Arlene. My parents and Arnie and Arlene had many great trips together. I thought of Arnie and Arlene like second parents to me. We will miss Arnie. Sending our love and condolences to all the family. ❤️Jack and Nan

We enjoyed many times of fellowship with the Lyon’s. We were neighbours in the same park. They made our winter visits so very enjoyable. It was a chapter in our lives that we’ll always cherish. Our condolences to all who will miss him. Al and Eleanor.

I have happy memories of Thanksgiving holidays spent in Auburn with Arnold and Arlene, my grandmother, Elva, and my Lyon cousins Bruce, Rod and Gary. We saw the family frequently and often spent the night when my dad had pick ups to make for his building business at Lake Tahoe. I remember going to San Francisco with the family to welcome Arnold’s ship when it came in from Korea. That was an exciting day for our family. Arnold and Arlene were an example to Kathie and me of a happily married couple and in following their example, we too have had a happy marriage. We have always appreciated Arnold’s having conducted my parents’ funerals. We will always have fond memories of his and Arlene’s visits with us in Washington, D.C. and Germany. Family is so important when you’re far away from home. He will be greatly missed by us and many others whose lives he touched.
