It was a privilege to join with you all today in the service for Gaylia from so far away here in Australia. Today I lost a dear friend of many years , she has endured such a struggle these past couple of years but never once doubting God’s goodness and mercy.
Thank you Dave for loving her , you will miss her. You all will but now no more suffering for her. and that is so comforting.

One of my memories of Gaylia was at a Ladies’ Retreat held in Bashaw. Gaylia’s enthusiasm was contagious and her love for the Lord so evident. The memorial service for Gaylia was a wonderful tribute to her and brought glory to God. My sincere sympathy to her family & friends.

We were with you via Livestream for Gaylia’s service. Nice to learn things from her background we didn’t know, like her buying piano or business acumen. Our hearts are with all who loved her and mourn for her. The loss hurts, but the wonder is her faith and heaven home.

Gaylia has been a part of my life ever since Sara and I met in grade 7. She always bestowed bits of wisdom to us kids that we never understood until later in life! She was resilient and warm; she was home away from home. Words cannot describe the loss that so many of us feel, especially her family. May there be comfort in her peace.

Gaylia was a light in each of our lives, a  flame that burned bright, independent and strong. With the warmth and energy of her faith she ignited the souls of family and friends within her circle of influence,
that they should shine and burn bright!

When we defy the confines of our own limitations, when we feel passion and closeness to God when we crave meaning and search for destiny, when we seek truth, we are drawing from the energy of our burning soul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

All these efforts of Gaylia’s life to inspire and support her family, church and community,  then to endure and struggle to survive cancer is evidence of her unfailing faith in God.  Gaylia’s life was an inspiration and will continue to be a blessing to all who knew her.
Our deepest condolences to Dave and all of her family members and closest friends.

I cherish my memories of Gaylia. We were only 5 months apart in age (with me being the older cousin) so naturally we had heaps to share as we grew up.
My family moved around a lot during my school years but it was always good to know that the Maxwells were in one place…3 Melina Street, Salisbury…and that is where Gaylia and l connected the most. I missed her a lot when Uncle Charlie and Auntie Elsie moved to Canada and I remember writing a song about it.
Gaylia brought her husband and children Brendan and ara Jane, back to Australia (mid ’80s?) and they stayed with my husband and family for a while before getting settled in Brisbane. Gaylia took up selling Tupperware and she was an excellent salesperson. I still have a number of pieces I bought through her.
After the Turner family moved back to Canada we lost touch for a while but in recent years we reconnected and had some great phone conversations and kept up to date through social media. I was sorry I didn’t get to see her when she and Dave last visited Australia and was looking forward to a reunion that they were planning. Sadly, Gaylia’s health deteriorated and though she kept hoping to make the trip it was not to be.
Throughout the last few years Gaylia’s positivity and strong faith shone through her pain and sickness and she inspired me so much. Her love for Dave and her children and I think, her life in general was always something l could feel and hear in her words and l am thankful she was so loved in return.
I give thanks for your life Gaylia and now sweet girl, rest in peace as you wait for the coming of our Lord.

I’m so sorry to hear of Gaylia’s passing. Thinking of Gaylia, I recall what she so sweetly shared with us at her mother, Elsie’s funeral service: Gaylia said, “Our ‘perfectionist’ mother, safety pins were NOT allowed in our house!” Gem: “Every dark cloud has a silver lining”. You dear family, especially David & Nea, whom I have known since early 1970’s, may beautiful memories of your little sister be as that ‘silver lining’ around this dark cloud! Lotsa love… Betty [Peters/Stelfox] Hredil
