Aunty Maureen and family, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Uncle Cal. The service was beautiful and we are so blessed to have been able to partake from far away. All my interactions with Uncle Cal left me feeling his kindness and loving nature. I remember always thinking he had the most wonderful smile. He will be greatly missed. Sending everyone hugs during this time. With love Andrea, Jason, Caden and Everly

Calvin’s son, Loren, is a long-standing employee of Amtech, everyone in our organization was deeply saddened when we found out of Calvin’s sudden passing. I know by who Loren is, both personally and professionally, and by what Loren has said about his father, that Calvin and Maureen raised remarkable, talented and loving children, and that Calvin was a remarkable and loving man.

During this difficult and emotional time, all of us at Amtech wish Loren, his mother, and Loren’s siblings and family our heartfelt condolences for your loss. Our hope is that although this loss is full of sadness, Calvin’s life has left you with many good memories of a life well-lived.

I often thought luck was on my side when Cal called me out of the blue at Hazmasters, many years ago. Truth is luck was on thousands of workers sides that day. Thanks to Cal thousands of workers were able to learn about hazardous work and how to control it. He was exceptionally talented, in fact he was the best I have seen at getting people to understand. I sat in many classes with Cal and it was magical. So without a doubt there are workers who are able to be with their families today thanks to Cal. Fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers came home for dinner after a hard day at work because they learnt how to work at heights or how to work in confined spaces from Cal. Working with Cal was a blast and I enjoyed every minute of it. Time with him changed my life and his lessons are still guiding me today. A true star both as a person and as an educator. I am still in the business and our courses will always have a bit of Cal in them. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of a great person, educator and mentor.

I have been very fortunate to have Cal as my brother-in-law. Whenever there was a family event, he was the first to hug hello and then another for goodbye! I am sure he is sending many distant hugs from heaven because; that would be his healing power.
Cal had a talent for making people feel important, and he was always willing to engage in intellectual conversations. He had so much good to say about his children (all 6), and his joy was his grandchildren. We will all miss Cal dearly!
Maureen and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to learn of Calโ€™s passing. Cal and I became friends in our teenage years and spent many days together at band camp and beyond; lots of wonderful memories with the entire family in Weyburn. I especially remember attending Calโ€™s grade 12 graduation and the boys driving to Moose Jaw in December to celebrate my birthday. What fun we had!

My sincere condolences to the family, immediate and extended. I will offer prayers for healing and the progress of Calโ€™s soul in all the worlds of God.

He will forever live in our hearts. RIP

Cal my good friend and Maureen and family. I am deeply saddened of the passing of Cal. I had the “Privilege” to work with Cal at Hazmasters and he was my “Mentor”. The man was ‘Smooth as Silk’, and had a real talent to wrangle in the reckless and rude and throw on his gentle yet persuasive manner to calm the crowd. Cal is “instrumental” in ensuring workers all over the provinces understood the importance of personal safety. Cal was a guy who “JUST GOT IT” and guys like him are far and few between. I have a few pictures of Cal in action teaching 20 km up a logging road in back of a 40 foot trailer on the sea to sky project near Squamish B.C., I would like to share with the family. Reason being is, Cal was a huge part of helping “Joe and Jane worker”, work safe no matter what the industry and go home in one piece to their respective families. “Thank you Cal, for helping others go home “SAFE” and thank you for all you have done. I think the world of this (in his words) “GREAT DUDE”. Maureen and Family you have my deepest condolences at this very difficult time, but rest assured he spoke very highly of his family and thought the world of you guys in our many conversations…Maureen, you were the love of his life and he thought the world of you. Gonna miss this guy, he has saved so many workplace injuries and possible deaths. Thanks Cal, GOODBYE my friend, AND UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN………”Happy trails”

Rob and I are privileged to be part of Cal’s large extended family.. Many wonderful memories of Boxing Day gatherings in Weyburn with SO much food, and hotly contested crib games. I also got to spend time with Cal at several summer band camps. And unfortunately a painful part of the extended family privilege is saying good-bye to those wonderful people. Cal’s sudden passing leaves such a big hole for everyone he knew.

Maureen, a BIG hug for you and yours. We’ll all shed many tears today.

I had the great honour of knowing and working beside Cal for a number of years. He was always such a calm and collected man, even in the face of adversity. I was sad to hear of him retiring but was able to reconnect with him a year or so later. He was always very friendly and would always take a minute to have a chat. A true “salt of the Earth” individual. He will be sorely missed and my blessing go out to Maureen and family for their loss.
