My condolences to the Baker family for the loss of Karl. He will always be remembered as a strong father, husband, and Christian man. I have many fond memories of Karl and the Baker family growing up in the ‘90’s…his comedic skits, mechanical skills, speed in the ice, and musical talent. His memory has crossed my mind a lot over the past couple weeks, and the song “Go Rest High on That Mountain” seems fitting when I think of the loss to the Baker family. Take care, and God bless Irene, Jessica, Gabe, and Bryan.

    Dear Irene,

I have thought of you folks often during Carl’s failing health experience. Leonard and I were experiencing some difficult days too. During these times one’s ability to reach out to others is difficult because of our own plates were full at times. You both have been appreciated and admired from afar.

I would have liked to have attended the funeral with LaDon but I was in the middle of my move into the city from the farm. It has been a lot of hard work and an emotional experience. It is just 6 months since Leonard’s passing. I just was able to listen to the service today, May 8th. What a beautiful service! You will cherish all the good memories of a faithful husband. These good memories will help us as we finish our own race.

    Sincerely,
    Sharon

We did meet you very briefly, Irene, at Ellershouse convention one year. I’ve sent you a card but wanted to sign this guestbook in order to tell you how much Karl’s funeral moved me. I certainly needed to hear about the balance necessary to follow Jesus. These days we all need to put our focus more on Jesus. Thank you for being a good wife to Karl, I really only knew him as a boy, since I am 9 years older. Bev and Virginia were more my age. I’m very thankful that he was true to Jesus to the end. With love and care, Bonnie and Peter Cameron

One of my favorite memories of Karl was the four of us, off the coast of Tofino, Vancouver Island, climbing over the rocks to get to where the waves were crashing the hardest…. and then us sitting down on a safe rock and singing the hymn together…. “the waves rolled high…” We were in the midst of the harshest outdoor elements, yet the beautiful hymn resonated with our souls, bringing a calm sweet inner peace. Loved all of our motorcycle adventures with you both…. down to Wyoming, another to Washington, Montana, Alaska, etc. Karl was truly a man of faith, a man who knew how to be present… knew how to enjoy and treasure each moment. He alway took time to chat with strangers along our trips. Karl will be missed. Hugs to you, Irene, Jessica, Gabe, and Bryon……

Karl was an exceptional man. His faith, his life, his character, his attitude, will forever be impactful to so many. Karl embraced life with joy and gratitude. Even in the darkest of times, facing life’s most difficult hardships, he found hope. We feel incredibly privileged and blessed to have called him our dear friend, and our elder. We have wonderful memories of the Baker family taking us under their wing. So many laughs and hardships shared over coffee, and meetings after meeting. We enjoyed beautiful fellowship and friendship even through Covid and there was always a warm welcome with a warm embrace. Karl’s passing will leave an unfillable void in many people’s lives. We are just so thankful we had the short time we did with him. Much love to Irene, Jessica, Gabe, Bryon and all of the family. xx

Dear Irene, Jessica, Gabe, Bryon and extended Baker/Pearman families. Our thoughts and prayers have gone your way as Karl faced the last days of his life journey. We were glad to join you virtually, today, and can heartily agree with all that was shared about Karl. We have fond memories of the times when we, along with Karl and Irene, and 4 other couples celebrated our May wedding anniversaries together. We also appreciated our last visit with Karl and Irene when they were in Grande Prairie on one of Karl’s business trips. They were both an encouragement to us. Irene and family…..
I’m following the funeral service today and have a flood of memories. Karl had recently graduated from high school and was working with Maurice and their Dad in the cabinet shop in Lloydminster, when I was first in that field, and not so many years older than he. We spent as much time as we could with the Bakers, playing volleyball and just “hanging out”. You were in the picture in those days Irene and I have special memories of each of you from those days. We know that the God of all Comfort will draw near in this experience and will be a comfort to you.

Dear Irene and family from east to west coast.
We don’t find separation easy but we’re so thankful that Karl lived for life eternal . He was an encouragement. Even though I wasn’t in your home often enough I’m thankful for the memories I have.

    Hi Irene
There is so much I can say about Karl. He was always a friend. The kind of friend that even though the visits could be a long time apart he would continue from the last visit. Many good memories with Karl. Will always remember his great spirit of hospitality, and of course his chocolate chip cookies. Will cherish those memories.

I am honored to be “responsible” for the reason that Karl was famous for his chocolate chip cookies. He made his first batches with me in their Yellowknife apartment, back in the dark ages. I am sure all who knew Karl, appreciated his appetite for life. I am thankful to have known Karl and Irene when we were young. They both made me feel at home, so far away from home.

Our memories of Karl go back to the early 1970’s. WE always admired his attitude toward life, both spiritually and naturally. That attitude served him well throughout his life. One of the last times I saw Karl when I was looking after an infrastructure project in Yellowknife was at a Wednesday night Bible study. He was in Yellowknife regarding his work with Schlumberger. I looked across the room and there was Karl with a huge smile on his face and I immediately knew it was the same old Karl.

Karl’s ready smile was his Hallmark. It was wonderful to meet and greet the whole family in Barbados on their large family cruise, celebrating their parents 60th wedding anniversary. That was the beginning of our happy connection. We Will always have fond memories of Karl. Thinking of you Irene and your children as you cope with your grief and loss. But just remember, All is not lost.
    Hugs to you.

Uncle Karl will forever be a legend of kindness, humility and humour to us. This earth was blessed to have him, and we were blessed to know him for his short but oh so rich time here. Steve is so thankful for the many MANY memories of moments of encouragement and of course, fun, with his dear Uncle, special years living right with him to many times together through the year. He is so missed so much already. Dear Aunt Irene, Jessica, Gabe and Bryon, you’re all in our hearts, thoughts and prayers in this time. May you be held in the embrace of grace and love, now and always.

Real sorry to hear of your loss so soon. Karl had you might say a full life with the meeting and family and jobs to keep busy. We always
liked the Baker family when we lived in the HRM area of Nova Scotia and from the West too. Hope the family Baker and Pearmans will have comfort of good memories from those days he has now left behind for something better.

Dear Irene and Children, and Karl‘s siblings,

Heartfelt thoughts are with you in your great loss! We share common Nova Scotia roots with Carl, but got to know him more when, as a newly married young couple, he and Irene came to the same meeting in the Annapolis Valley as we attended! We were sorry when they left the east!! We appreciated Karl’s love for the way of God. There is reward for the steady and true!

    With Sympathy and Care,

Dear Irene and family, and also the Baker family. I remember Karl, when he was still living at home. I loved visiting their home. It was such a happy, lively home . Such pleasant memories throughout the years.
It is comforting to know that Karl has finished with honours the race he has begun. Karl was a wonderful example to his children, and all who knew him. of what it is like to be true and faithful.
I’m glad for the last memory of you and Karl, sitting together, near the front row of Convention, with your beautiful smiles. We are comforted to know that Karl has been “Called home to rest.”

I’m so sorry to hear of Karl’s passing. My darling mom became Karl’s neighbour at Michener extendicare and Karl and Irene were so welcoming and kind to us. Unfortunately, my mom passed on March 12, so we didn’t get to spend that much time, but the time we did impacted me so much. Karl always had a gentle smile and kind hello for my mum, dad and I. I’m sending my sincere condolences.

    Hello Irene,
I will keep this short, but I hope you are aware of the thoughts and prayers being directed your way these days. My memories of you and Karl have all been good ones. I deeply regret that I will not be able to make the service because of other obligations but I hope to watch it live stream. If it’s possible to extend greetings to Martin and Maurice and their families it would be appreciated. With love and care, Scott
