Judy Kern Obituary
Born in Illinois to Michael and Virginia, Judy lived a life shaped by curiosity, warmth, and a genuine love of people and places. After earning her accounting degree from Northwestern University, she followed a path that blended precision with adventure. Some of her most cherished memories came from working the counter at Continental Airlines, where she met travelers from all walks of life, and from being part of the pre-opening team at Denver International Airport—an experience she loved to talk about and took great pride in.
Judy found joy in many simple pleasures: the grace and discipline of figure skating, getting lost in a good book, watching movies that transported her to faraway places, and, most of all, spending time with friends. Whether through shared stories, laughter, or quiet companionship, she valued connection deeply and made those around her feel welcome.
Judy is survived by her son, Mike Kern, and her daughter-in-law, Tanya Kern. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Bob Kern, and her daughter, Kathleen, whom she held close in her heart always.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and an online Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2026 at 1:30 PM MT.

Thank you for sending this to me. I have been able to share it with a lot of people here at Concordia By The Lake where Judy had lived.

I’ve worked with Mike for years and briefly worked with Judy years ago. She was the sweetest lady – our unofficial “Office Mom”. She was fun and full of energy. Loved hearing her stories of travel all over the world. Love to Mike and Tanya

I didn’t know Judy for very long. She was always ready to meet new people. I really feel sad she had all the medical problems she had to deal with. She well be missed at Concordia. She is in a much better place now.

My cousin Judy made me feel loved and appreciated ever since we were young children. She tolerated my tomboy stage and helped me transition to our “giggly girly” stage together.
We were 41 days apart in age.

It is hard to believe that Judy could be gone. She was always so much fun, e full of energy, always trying new things… She loved to organize little trips around Lake Havasu…. We remember hearing about her past life, skating, working at the airlines….. and I do remember about her telling us she has had seizures…. Our little group of about 12 always got together twice a week in Havasu to play Hand and Foot… (she was very good at it!) and also Mexican Train… And, on Friday night our group always got together for “appetizers”!!
She always talked about her wonderful son… and also the little girl who she lost. Losts of good memories of her!
Love to you and Tanya.

Judy was so much fun. Full of fun and always first to organize an adventure with our group of snowbird friends in Arizona. Judy was a joy to be around.

I am a friend of Mike and Tanya and had the pleasure of joining Judy for holidays and other celebrations over the years. I always enjoyed visiting with her and hearing about her many fun adventures around Denver. She was a truly wonderful person and will be deeply missed.
