Celebration of Life for

Diane T. Finley

RSVP for Celebration of Life was held on August 15, 2020 at 2:30 PM Central Time

Diane Finley is lovingly remembered by brother Tom Finley (wife Dee) of Oakboro, NC; daughter Patricia Jean Colket Stout (husband Johnny) of Mandeville, LA; grandson Shad Levi Finley Stout of San Antonio, TX; cousin Laura Harding (husband John and children Mary Claire, Will and Drew) and “Uncle Jack” E. Wilson of Kennesaw GA; Patty Taylor, and many other beloved friends, teachers and students. Her beloved parents were Patricia Finley Tugend, Graham Finley, and Frank Tugend. Diane taught elementary music, founded the St. Louis Children’s Choirs, advanced the Frances Williams Community Choir in Thomasville, Georgia, and created the Right to Read phonics reading program.

She is well remembered as a dedicated Bible workshop teacher, curriculum writer, tutor, private voice teacher, reading room volunteer, Sunday school teacher, church volunteer, and music educator. As a mentor and an inspiration to many, Diane insisted on seeing everyone in the highest light. Her greatest quest in life was to express more selfless love and to uplift others.

Please join us to honor Diane in two ways:

Register now to attend a virtual gathering to celebrate Diane: Saturday, August 15 at 2:30 Central/ 3:30 Eastern time, for up to 90 minutes.  The link to register is above, or find in the form below. Please let Patricia know if you would like to contribute by speaking, generally about two minutes.

There will be an opportunity for guests to speak spontaneously as well, later in the program. This is a private gathering; please let us know if there is someone you feel should be included.

Also, please find the link below to find and save Diane’s private Interactive webpage on GatheringUs.com, where you can find her story, make comments, and post your own pictures, videos, stories or verses about your connection to Diane. As you return to the page over the next days, you will find more pictures, poems, and reflections to inspire you. Thank you for helping weave a tapestry of love and legacy during these times that we can’t be together physically.  In truth, whether we called her Mom, Mim, Diane, Dee, or Ms. Finley, we never lose our connection to this child of God who is always with us, surrounding us with her own unique expression of spiritual love and light.

Donations may be made in honor of Diane to the African American Museum at Smithsonian or St. Louis Children’s Choirs.

On a practical note, please refrain from sharing any page or site on social media.

Daughter Patricia can be reached via phone/text/voicemail at (985) 264-8089 (preferred) or breathwork@bellsouth.net.
