Alice (Licha) Lopez Obituary
Obituary for Alice (Licha) Lopez April 27, 1930 – December 23, 2025
Alice “Licha” Lopez passed away peacefully at her beautiful home in Santa Maria, California on December 23, 2025. She came from a large family, the 7th out of 12 children. She was born and raised in Pacoima, California to Jesus and Fidencio Lopez on April 27, 1930. Alice was raised with her brothers and sisters in a very close and loving home. Her mother passed away when she was only 7 years old, leaving her to help her father raise her three younger siblings.
She met the love of her life, Guadalupe (Lupe) Lopez at a very young age and married him in 1944. Their marriage spanned over 69 ½ years and was an adventure from the beginning. Together they developed two successful construction companies, as well as several commercial and rental properties. She was a bookkeeper for most of her adult life working side by side with her husband to make their investments grow and thrive. They loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout the United States and visited five continents: Asia, Africa, South America, Europe and Australia. Alice loved to shop in the airport shops and to bring souvenirs for the family from all of her travels.
Family is what mattered the most and her love was unconditional. She helped so many in her family to buy cars, homes, start businesses and further their education. She often lent a helping hand or merely offered a shoulder to cry on when needed by a loved one. Sharing advice and life experiences was one of her many talents. Her door was always open, in fact, many friends and family members had a key to her home. She always believed in saving for a rainy day and to “pay yourself first” by putting money into your savings account. Her hobbies were working, shopping, gardening and cleaning.
She will be missed by her sons Ernest (Rose Ann) Lopez and Jim (Karen) Lopez; daughters Yolanda (George) Novoa, Cynthia (Rich) Monroe and Lisa (Frank Jr) Reynoso. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Priscilla Lopez, James Lopez, Jon Lopez, Jennifer Christian, Paul Novoa, Monique Aguiniga, Chrystal McNeil, Olivia Velasquez, Frank Ill Reynoso; 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson due in February. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Lopez in July 2014 and son Arthur Lopez in September 1988.
A private family service and burial will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Alice once said, “I had a GREAT LIFE” and boy did she!
