Stephen Charles Hunter passed away peacefully in Chilliwack, BC, hospital on January 10, 2022, after a brief illness with his family by his side.
Stephen was born in Newmarket, Ontario, on November 23, 1960, the Son of Marven Hunter and Jean (nee Robertson) Hunter.
In summer of 1972, the family moved from Ontario to Saint John, New Brunswick. Stephen attended Bayside Junior High, while working on weekends at Lord’s Lobster in the City Market, his family’s business, where he excelled at sales. After graduating from Simonds High School, he left NB and moved to Calgary Alberta. Upon arriving in Calgary, he immediately started working for Billingsgate Fish Market, until he decided to go to work for a Framing Company. He met Patricia Lomenda, and started working for Allkind Masonry, the Lomenda Family Business. Stephen and Pat married on Oct 16, 1982. In 1984 they moved to Saint John NB, where Stephen rejoined Lord’s Lobster Ltd, where he really helped grow the business. He was a born salesman.
Three children were born to them in Saint John, Kallie, Mark and Jeff. In the fall of 1994 the family moved back to Calgary, Alberta, where Stephen worked at various construction jobs, that led him to open his own renovation company, Hunter Construction Ltd, in Lethbridge AB. After many good years in Lethbridge, he moved on to various places in Western Canada, focusing mostly in Alberta and BC, where he brought his valuable experience to every project he worked on.
Stephen was predeceased by his father Marven Hunter, and is survived by his former wife, Patricia Smith (Stan); daughter, Kallie Ellis (Mark); son, Mark (Janie); and son, Jeff; 7 grandchildren, Kennedy; Dane; Chase; Denver; Benson; Theo; and Owen. Also survived by his mother, Jean Hunter; brother John (Shelley); and sisters, Marlene Petersen (Ken); Caroline McLean (Jamie); and Jeannine Chrisp (Paul), many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, all who loved Stephen dearly. He will be missed.
