Rob Brand passed away suddenly in a logging accident on September 28, 2021.
He was the beloved father of Shawn, Greg and Bryan and Grandpa to Dylan, Colten, Grace and Madix. Rob was a loving and attentive partner to Bonnie.
Rob spent his life in Port Hardy, raising his family, hunting, fishing and logging the North Island. He was an avid outdoorsman with a quick smile and terrible jokes. As a child growing up in the trailer park, he delivered the newspaper, collected snakes and built forts. He received his first rifle at eight years old and his first power saw at 10. He graduated from PHSS with friends and teachers who he kept in touch with throughout the years.
Rob spent his career in the logging industry but his heart was at home with his boys. He was a family man through and through. No matter what he had going on, he was not one to miss a family reunion or the birth of a grandchild – he was there for all of them.
He loved poker nights, skiing and even bowling. Rob was a traveler and anyone who has ever had the experience of traveling with him can tell you there was never a dull moment. He was the life of the party and a fun, happy and enjoyable person to be around. He loved music and he loved to dance.
He is survived by his Mom Karen, his sisters Sam and Kathy, his nephews James and Zack and his niece Carter along with numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
We all loved his generous and adventurous spirit; he will be fondly remembered, sorely missed and forever loved.

Dear Rob,
it is very sad not to have met you again. I fondly remember the hours we spent with you and Bonny in Costa Rica, it would have been so nice to see each other again! There are things in life that cannot be stopped or brought back, I will always think of you and I know that you can now see us from above. Be guarded and guard us, sleep in peace.

I only worked for a year with rob but I spent an hour with him driving from mahatta to east creek and his story was inspiring of never giving up and persevering through adversity. I enjoyed working under him and miss him already. There was no doubt that he was a family man and love his boys and grand children. Rest In Peace rob

Deepest sympathy for the family. Rob was such a kind hearted soul. He helped me move up to Port Hardy. I cooked and cleaned for him many years ago. Him and Al Zaplotinsky are no doubt playing poker up high.

We are thinking of you all today as you celebrate Robbie’s Life and remembering the good old days of growing up in Port Hardy and the special friendship my brother Joe and Rob had from school and beyond. Lots of laughs and trials (blowing up the beaver dam on my parents farm and driving horse and carriage through Courtenay deciding it was okay 😁). I wish you light and love always (((hugs))). My my heartfelt condolences to Karen, Sam, Kathy, Shawn, Gregory, Brian, Bonnie, Shelley, the grandchildren & all Robbie’s family & friends. There really are no words 🙁 I thought Robbie was done with logging accidents after the one which nearly got him when we were teenagers. He tuffed through that with his sheer will for life – he was a lifeforce. Shelley & the boys were so important to him starting out which is why he worked so hard – he was the most proud young husband & father as each of his boys arrived. There were a select few of us who grew up through the entire PH elementary & high school system together, becoming adults together & remaining close throughout our lives. We always had each other’s backs as brothers, counselled one another & celebrated & mourned together – now we mourn again 🙁 I thought you already paid your penance through logging Robbie but there was another plan – I never thought I’d see this day. Robbie shared during one of our last visits together how excited he was to be starting his next chapter in life with Bonnie. You could tell how happy he was for their future. We will continue to love & miss you everyday brother as you, Teddy & your dad gather round the landing & smile down on us. Hilakyasla (til we meet again) My Brother… H
