My uncle Frankie as I would call him was the first person I walked to when I learned to walk at age one. I have lots of pictures of Frank if you would like them.

Frank was one of my favorite guys on the waterfront.
I had the good fortune to work with him as one of my lashers, one of my supplemental Walking Bosses. And later as one of my favorite Walking Bosses from the plug. He was a true professional that took the time to teach a young superintendent.

I also got the privilege of working with him after he retired when interviewing prospective Walking Boss candidates.

He wasn’t just a true professional during his career. He loved that mantra as his path through life.

    Rest In Peace Frank.
And thank you for your impact on me!

That was an amazing tribute to a great man & wonderful father. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so heartwarming how much you loved him, and all know he loved you beyond measure. May he always look down from above and continue to watch over your family always. ????

God rest his soul. I never would have thought I would have cared for/ valued a neighbor so much. I moved to Lathrop when I was 2 years old (1994) and frank has always been there for me. Over the years he’s really turned into family. He really meant a lot to me. Any time he needed me I was there. As well as any time I needed him he was there like an uncle type of figure in my life. I’m so glad I got to tell him what he meant to me and he was family to me no matter what. Waking up helping you start your truck or watching your house and feeding the cat while you enjoyed your retirement years will truly be missed. It’s really hard for me to put into words how just down right cool and nice and caring this man was to me and everyone. I really appreciate it. I will never forget you. Thanks for everything frank. Love ya buddy

Thank you to the Relva family for sharing such a beautiful tribute. Frank was our beloved neighbor for over 25 years. We have so many wonderful and fun memories to look back on. We will always remember his generosity, kindness and friendship. We shared a fence, a love for stray cats, Fourth of July celebrations and so many neighborhood chats. Frank was the best neighbor anyone could possibly ask for. He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Frank.

Gina, I said many prayers for you in hopes you would find peace in all this. We knew when we met your father he was a keeper. A good one! The memorial and the comments made by many in the video and on this page are beyond describing the wonderful man your father is. He is so loved and remains in the hearts of many.

Towards the end of my Grandpa’s life, he had a stroke that immobilized most of his body. He was still able to move his left arm along with comprehending what was going on around him. I was sitting by his bedside holding his hand and out of the blue he starts squeezing my hand as hard as he could while looking me dead in the eyes. In that moment I realized the song and lyrics being sung by Dolly Parton, “I Will Always Love You”, was being played in the background. I instantly knew what he was trying to say and I said to him right away, “I love you too”. He then relaxed his arm, eyes, and body to continue resting with his family by his side. I’m grateful to have had that moment, and I’m grateful I have been blessed enough to have had such an incredible Grandfather. Rest in Peace, Grandpa Bonkie, I will always love you.

    Dear Eric and Gina,
I just watched the beautiful memorial for your loving father. I’m overwhelmed.
You truly blessed your father, as he, you both.
What a good life he had.
I remember your father as a sixth grader when my friend and I would watch him play varsity baseball .
To us he was a marvel and I can picture him still on the dirt infield , serious and determined. Years later he became family and those memories at my parents’ dinners , in Castro Valley and your home in San Lorenzo are what I best recall. Frank was a good man and may he rest in peace. God bless you both and all his friends and family.

Grandpa, I hope you are not mad about my tattoos. I know you never left and I would like to think that we are closer now than what we were before. I will always cherish you watching over me. When I feel myself slipping I can feel you influencing me on the right path. I wont forget how you would say “turn out the lights the party is over” and “sink the last shot.” I love you. Your granddaughter, Tori.

Frank was a pleasure to work with and to know. Everyone liked Frank and the ladies in the office called him
the Silver Fox, but it was Shyla Barrow who won his heart. I’m am so happy that they found each other in their
final years and are now together once again.

    RIP ….

Mr. Relva- You made a big impact on me when I was growing up. I always enjoyed being at your home. You always made me feel welcome like I truly belonged. You gave me the confidence I lacked to try and play softball to the best of my abilities which I have kept and used throughout my life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. You will be truly missed. Rest In Peace ❤️????????
