The world lost a beautiful man, but we are all better for knowing Dave. From being
Co-Managers at Lowe’s to good friends outside of business, I will always remember Dave for his loyalty to friends and love ones. Dave always had your back, and was supportive of ones drive and determination. May God keep him and shine his light onto all of us as we remember him. All my thoughts and prayers are with the Gomez family during this time. God bless you.

Primo my heart is broken. I still can’t believe you’re no longer with us. I have many good memories of growing up with you. You are one of my favorite cousins, you were like a brother to me. Thank you for being such a caring person. I named my second son “David” after you so I will always remember you.

    “Sadly missed along life’s way,
    lovingly remembered everyday.
No longer in our life to share,
but in our hearts you are always there.”

Oh Dear Cousin David you will be missed. I will never forget that day when you were a police officer and you pulled me over I was so scared and had so many thoughts goi.g through my head, when u approached me I was so relieved to see your face. I’m so happy you trusted me to go straight home like u advised me to, well its like you said I either go straight home or you can follow me home but I said you can trust me and that I would go straight home. I’m going to miss you making me laugh on Facebook with your funny comments. R.I.P Cousin and please hug my Mom for me if you See her. ❤

On behalf of my wife Rita and I we would like to offer our deepest condolences to the GOMEZ family.
I’m John Chaney retired San Diego Police Detective.
Dave is my best friend . Our friendship began while attending the 102nd San Diego Police Academy in May of 1985. After graduating from the Academy Dave and I were assigned to the Southeastern Division of San Diego on the same squad. Dave and I spent three years patrolling the streets and having fun in our new job. Dave introduced me to street tacos on my first trip to Tijuana with him. I must admit we had an awesome day eating what felt like a hundred of the little tacos, so much fun that day. I knew Dave and I had a very special friendship when we named our sons Brandon. That’s our special bond. Our careers took the same path. We both joined the San Diego Police Department (SWAT) Team. A few years later we were both promoted to Detectives and assigned to the SDPD Narcotics Street Team. Dave excelled in his position and was quickly moved to the major narcotic team at DEA.. Dave really loved being a POLICE officer and everyone who met him admired and respected him. I could go on and on about how much his friendship meant to me, I really loved him. Rest in Peace my friend. Again my heart felt condolences Gomez family.

Only once in my career have I had the opportunity to work a law enforcement narcotic detail with a relative – we were with different agencies and remember the undercover narcotic buy detail vividly back in the 90’s. I grieve the loss of a cousin and a officer.

I remember cousin David coming over to our house on 43 rd St. and play football with me and my brother Robert. David would be my quarter back and my dad would be my brothers. He would laugh at me n my brother because neither one of us could tackle each other but we tried
